Links
Every Site needs a links page. It's practically obligatory. It's probably a tradition, or an old charter or something. Besides - it's a good way to pad out the space while other people do all the real work.
You know the drill by now - this is a list of stuff I like/found usefull/blah blah blah. I have no doubt I'll add to it over time, but I'm open to suggestions as well. If there's anything you'd like to see here, Email me at Matneee@TMoCT.co.uk and I'll see what I can do.
But first, I must get in a shameless plug for our sister site...
Talk To Us
Matneee@TMoCT.co.uk - General comments, queries, feedback and whatnot.
Abuse@TMoCT.co.uk - Comments of a more personal nature. Best one wins the plant.
Applications
Audacity - Comprehensive free sound editing app, allowing for vst/nyqusit plugins.
VirtualDub- Free video capture & processing.
FFDShow- Every Video codec you'll ever need in one tiny application.
Real Alternative- Play RealMedia files without all the hassle of RealPlayer.
QuickTime Alternative- Same as Real Alternative, except plays .Mov files etc.
PowerArchiver- Multi-format file compression. Trial version never runs out.
Object Dock- Incredibly useful Windows sidebar. The demo version is all you need.
Object Desktop- Because XP is frankly shite. Costs money, but this is worth it.
Security
Avast! AntiVirus- Genuinely good free virus protection. 100% Virus Bulletin certified.
Spybot S&D- Essential free malware protection.
Ad-Aware- Essential free malware protection.
MiscellaneousCrapWiki- Shameless rip-off of Uncyclopedia and all round antdote to Web2.0, it's just about possible that the world may never forgive me for this one. It was released on the 19th October 2007 at about 3PM, although 'was released' is probably too strong a term and could more accurately be replaced with 'escaped'. But obviously it is still the best website in the world, ever...
Matneee's Miskatonic Marvels- Cthulhu Clothing and other stuff that I tout through CafePress, which you probably won't get unless you know something about H.P. Lovecraft. Absolutely the best apparel in the world bar none for quality, design and pricing and I'm never going to get rich unless someone starts buying it. So what are you waiting for? Get your credit cards out!
Dara O Briain- Quite simply the best stand up comic in the world and funniest man alive today. Acted all surprised when I suggested people stereotype the Dutch as a nation of stoned perverts (no offence intended to any Dutch people out there). Go see him if you get the chance and buy his DVD.
Uncyclopedia- Fuck the truth, this is funnier. The distilled wisdom of the internet in one easy-to-use volume, and probably not that much less accurate than wikipedia, thinking about it.
Del Toro Films- The official fansite of Guillermo Del Toro, purveyor of quality films and the man behind Hellboy and Pan's Labyrinth - two of my favorites, in fact - and hopefully future writer/director of At the Mountains of Madness. It's worth visiting this one - amongst other things it's notable having a forum that the man himself posts on, so it's probably about as close to the real deal as you'll ever get.
Richard Herring- I've recently been rediscovering this once favorite comedian of mine. One time half of the double act Lee & Herring (the one who people didn't mistake for Mark Lamarr), Mr Herring is afforded legendary status among a certain stratum of mid-30 year olds from such 1990's shows as Fist of Fun and This Morning With Richard Not Judy. I got two of his DVDs for my birthday this year - they're available here for a frankly paltry amount of cash, so you've got no excuse for not buying them and you even get a free show programme thrown in! The 12 tasks of Hercules Terrace is particularly good...
Weffriddles- Mindbendy fun for the puzzle obsessed. I lost days of my life to this site when I should have been working instead...
Touretteaphone- Learn to swear to professional standards in seconds. If only all musical instruments were like this.
I refuse to put a link to Firefox in here. I've no idea why anyone would want use it unless they don't know any better - it's terrible and frankly nowhere near as secure as people think. Stick to IE7 or Opera is my advice.
